We only arrange private tours.
In the high tourist season there is very often a short wait in the reserved ticket line also. This is unavoidable, there is no faster way to enter the gallery.
Starting very early in the morning (the gallery opens at 8.15am) or late in the day (the galleries close at 6.30pm) will be less crowded. Tuesday is the busiest day of the week as the galleries are closed the day before, so it is advisable to start early on this day, or, to avoid it altogether.

We don’t take a deposit, we ask for cash payment on the day or prepayment by Sumup.
Sumup charges a service fee of 2.5% which will be added to your invoice.
We will refund the price of the tour if we receive an email more than two weeks before the scheduled start of the tour. A cancellation within two weeks of the start of the tour will be half refunded. A cancellation within the week of the tour will not be refunded.
We are happy to make a change in the day of the tour if you let us know by email more than two weeks before the start of the tour and if one of Freya’s team is available to guide you. Any tickets already bought are unfortunately non-refundable & non-transferable after purchase.
The meeting point depends on the tour. Your meeting point will be given in the confirmation email. Please make sure you understand where it is and leave plenty of time to get there!
We will not cancel your tour because of rain, just bring along an umbrella and the tour will go ahead as usual! Many hotels have umbrellas for guests to borrow.
We will arrange rental of personal headsets for parties of 4 or more people, necessary for most of the museums and city walks due to surrounding noise. These enable you to hear the guide well without them having to raise their voice. The use of microphones are now banned in Florence, We will make the reservation for the headsets and include the cost in your invoice. They are always a welcomed addition to the tour and guarantee a more relaxing experience when viewing the art ensuring that all the guide’s commentary is being clearly heard.
Half-day rental cost: Headsets cost a flat rate of 30€ for 1-12pax & 2.50€ per person when parties greater than 12pax. Half-day rental is 4hours or less.
Full-day rental cost: Headsets cost 50€ for the full day rental (when the tour is 4,5hours or more) for parties of 1-12pax & 5€ per person when parties are greater than 12pax for a full day.
Please let us know if you or anyone travelling with you has any walking difficulties so that we can plan your itinerary accordingly.
Freya knows some great places to eat around the city, we would be happy to make a reservation for you.
Freya does not recommend the Uffizi for very small children, it is often crowded and difficult for them to see the paintings. Please see the Tours for Families page for ideas of tours suitable for children.
There is a dress code for visiting churches in the summer; shoulders must be covered and shorts or skirts should be knee length.
Tipping in Italy is not at all obligatory, but a gesture of thanks to someone who has been particularly good at their job or who has gone above and beyond the call of duty! It is completely discretionary and always gratefully received.
All of Freya’s team are licensed guides of Florence which means that they have passed the rigorous exams set by the provincial government.
The Uffizi gallery & the Accademia gallery are the two most visited museum in Florence, a reservation is essential to avoid the long lines. Freya recommends an early start to avoid the most crowded time of the day.
If you are staying out of Florence Freya recommends that you take the train where possible to avoid the traffic and parking difficulties in Florence.
If you prefer to drive, please let us know which direction you will be coming from, we will be able to suggest a parking area.
Please check your route carefully, it always takes longer than you think to get through the traffic and find the parking area! Google street view can be a great help. Please take with you a printed map, if you rely on a mobile device you may find it unable to connect or without power.
Please remember that if you are delayed the tour cannot be extended if the guide has another commitment following your tour.
If you are coming by train, please make sure that your train will stop at the station called Firenze Santa Maria Novella. The other Firenze stations are in the suburbs.
There is a left luggage office at track number 16, open from 6am until 11pm.
